TraditionalClimbs

A mining of the UKC website to extract information about Traditional Climbs, Scrambles and Winter Mountaineering locations.

Inspiration

Locating crags in a new area is difficult enough without having to navigate a minefield of bouldering problems on the UKC map. With recent trends of dressing in toast-like onsies, the portable bed movement seems to have flooded the maps with 3 move problems 1 foot from the ground.

With a more classical interest in ropework and protected routes, I surccame to the temptation to create a tool which scrapes the UKC website for crags containing such climbs and plots them up.

Similarly it was found that although the rockfax app allows for the simultanious ownership of multiple guidebooks. Deserning covered climbs from those not contained proved a bit tricky. The tool here also adresses the issue of what climbs are (at this point) included with the app.
